We were approached by a customer who wanted to stop their daughters room getting so cold in the winter. The daughters room had a flat roof that though not leaking was coming to the end of it life.
We suggested that if they were considering changing the flat roof they could install a warm roof system at the same time. We recommended a GRP flat roof covering with a 20 year installation and manufacturers guarantee with a Kingspan warm roof sheeting installation.
The old felt roof didn’t leak, but at 15 years old was past it’s best and due renewal.
After lifting the old felt covering off, we replaced the decking with marine grade ply and then installed a Visqueen Vapour Barrier
Once the vapour barrier is installed we can start to lay the insulation sheets
Once thge insulation sheets have been ladi and secured to the decking we can start installing our roof covering, Using interlocking OSB board we can ensure a flat roof covering that wont split over time.
We also used kickboard at the back of the roof to ensure any water would not flow back into the property. All water will flow back towards the tlles, then off the sides of the flat roof onto a lead flashing and dissipate onto the roof.
The GRP’s roof covering decking has now been installed, the trims have been attached and it’s now waiting for the GRP covering.
The top coat has been applied, in this case the roof wasn’t going to be used for foot traffic so there was no need for adding a course surface.
